sales records with its iPhone 6s: Tech firm sold more than 13 million handsets
in the opening weekend

In just one weekend Apple
sold a staggering 13 million iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets.
The next-generation
models went on sale on Friday in 12 launch countries, including the UK, US,
Australia and China.
This record beats the 10
million devices sold during the opening weekend of the iPhone 6 going on sale
in 2014.
In just one weekend
Apple sold a staggering 13 million iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets

Friday in 12 launch countries, including the UK, US, Australia and China. This

APPLE'S NEXT WAVE OF LAUNCH COUNTRIES
On Friday, Apple
launched the new phones in Australia, Canada, China,
France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK,
and the US.
Apple will roll out the
phones to additional countries and territories from 9 October.
These include Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland,
Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg,
Maldives, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania,
Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan.
On October 10, countries
include Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia
and United Arab Emirates will also get the phones.
The phones will then be
available in India, Malaysia and Turkey
on 16 October 16 and in more than 130 countries by the end of 2015.
On
Friday, Apple launched the new phones in Australia,

Apple fans queuing for days to be among the first to buy the handset.
One Australian fan
even sent a robot to queue in her place outside the Apple store in
Sydney.
The queues were
noticeably shorter than in previous years, but this may be due to the fact many
people had reserved their places online meaning they didn't need to camp out
overnight.
Prices
start at £539 ($649) for the 16GB iPhone 6s up to £699 ($849) for the 128GB
model. The iPhone 6s Plus starts at £619 ($749) for 16GB up to £789 ($949) for
128GB.
Apple admitted before
the phones went on sale that pre-orders had exceeded expectations and online
orders for the day of release had all been filled.
As a result, it
predicted that this weekend's sales would beat those for the iPhone 6 last
year.
Early reviews of the
devices, published by reviewers who were given exclusive access, have been
universally positive.

The release saw Apple

Many praise the new
handset for being radically faster than previous versions, and they hail the
new 3D Touch screen as a big step forward. But some also say the phone's
battery hasn't moved on to the same degree.
Both new models have
more memory and faster processors, along with a new 12MP camera.
Meanwhile, the 3D touch
screen allows users to press harder on the screen to access extra menus and
even a special selfie feature.
The iPhone 6s and 6s
Plus come in four finishes - silver, gold, space grey and rose gold - and come
in two sizes that match last year's handsets measurements.
They are covered by a
brand new brand new glass that Apple said is 'incredibly durable.'
There is also a new 5MP
front-facing camera to boost selfie quality, which uses the screen as a flash.
EE is offering the
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus with Wi-Fi calling from 25 September in the UK.
It is additionally
available on Vodafone, O2, Three, and be on sale at Carphone Warehouse and
Currys PC world.
The new handsets were
unveiled earlier this month as Apple launched a massive revamp of its products
including a 'monster' iPad with a 12.9-inch screen and a new $149 TV box that
can run apps and games.
